When should I switch from air freight to ocean FCL?

Below that, air LCL may be competitive when you factor in the 25-35 day transit time cost of ocean shipping (inventory carrying cost, lost sales, cash flow delay). For routine, plannable shipments above 10 CBM, ocean FCL is almost always cheaper.

FCL (Full Container Load) means you rent an entire container at a flat rate regardless of how full it is. LCL (Less than Container Load) consolidates your cargo with other shippers, charging per CBM or per ton. FCL is cheaper per unit for large volumes; LCL suits small shipments under 15 CBM.
